Day 1 – Begin the tour with a morning boat trip to Kawau Island. Enjoy an easy-going scenic Island walk where you’ll learn about the nature & history of the island. Lunch is a picnic on Kawau before heading back to the mainland. In the afternoon, choose from fishing, horse riding or exploring Goat Island, NZ’s oldest marine reserve, on board the glass bottom boat. In the evening, enjoy a self-catered BBQ at your accommodation after supermarket shopping with your guide.
Day 2 – Visit a beautiful, native ocean-side garden and enjoy morning tea with garden creator & designer Liz Morrow. Afterwards, tour Morris & James, NZ’s largest hand-made pottery factory, followed by honey tasting & a stroll around the local village. Lunch is a delicious NZ menu of local fish snapper & kiwi lamb. In the afternoon, explore the local oyster farm aboard the shuckle ferry & savour our delicious, succulent local plump oysters. Wind down at a winery with a tour and then a wine tasting amongst the vines.
Day 3 – Discover New Zealand’s rich, pre-European history with a visit to Te Hana Te Ao Marama Village, where you’ll gain an insight into Maori life amongst a Papakainga and Pa (fortified village). Afterwards, enjoy an entertaining sheep shearing & dog show with a local farmer. Lunch is an antipasto platter at a winery, followed by a visit to our local handmade chocolate factory for a delicious tasting. Choose to add-on an optional nature activity of either snorkeling at a marine reserve or an eco-tour at a bird sanctuary, where the kiwi and takahe wander freely.
